The Barbara & Daniel T. Browne Healthcare & Education Centre
In Sierra Leone, one in eight women risk dying during pregnancy or childbirth all for reasons that are preventable. This is one of the highest maternal death rates in the world. While our Country have worked very hard to combat this problem, there is still more to be done in this area. That is why we are going to open this centre to save the lives of many children and their parents by offering preventive care and educational seminars to help our people.
Infant mortality is defined as the number of infant deaths (one year of age or younger) per 1000 live births. Traditionally, the most common cause worldwide especially in Sierra Leone is lack of healthcare facilities and professional help. This is a problem in the cities so imagine the provincies or rural areas. We have to do something right away.
We want to train communities to screen and treat children with malaria, one of the biggest killers of under-fives by immunization and education.
We want to make sure we teach young women on preventive care, train them to have healthy pregnancies and how to take care of their children once they are born and ultimately how to take care of their families as women take care of the homes. High numbers of teenage pregnancies contribute to Sierra Leone’s high rates of maternal and infant mortality we have to educate these your women. This will include a lot of education, immunizations, and other preventive measures free for all. Please join us today to make it possible by donating financial and in-kind .
